Initial Post

:: Post #1 - Blogs ::

Traditionally, blogs were used as online diaries to document events (both exciting and mundane) and/or daily occurrences. Nowadays, people use blogs for everything from shameless self-promotion for personal gain to spreading malicious javascript worms (typing MySpace + Worm into Google yields over 1.4 million hits) to gain more "friends".

So after several semi-successful attempts at other blogging services, I decided to try out Google's homegrown version (which was probably outsourced to Indian programmers). So, in this flavour of my blog, I will attempt to document my life as a code monkey at one of Canada's Big Five Banks. For you people that don't know (shame on you) they are: Bank of Montreal, Bank of Nova Scotia, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, Royal Bank and Toronto Dominion Bank in alphabetical order.

So here I am, 2½ weeks into my new job with a cushy chair, a nice LCD monitor and one completed "project" under my belt. On top of that there are oodles of places to eat and to live it up after work. Really now ... Can a guy ask for anything more?

Till next time ...
